Do you like the picture that Jen put up? She came in yesterday & spent ages trying to work out how to put it up, she got there in the end & is working out a quicker way so that I can put photos up without having to upload files to folders & crazy computer stuff that only IT people understand.

I have really been enjoying Luke's sets lately. He seems to have adopted a different style & it works really well. Any Luke Smith regulars feel different about his change in style?

Tonight is the K-City bowl, lets call it a talent show/open mic, apparently we are bound to discover some new talent, lets wait & see... Vera will be putting an appearance in tonight so come & see her skills behind the bar, its gonna be a marvelous show.

Stefan returns today so we might see him later, Adam has gone out today to look at a mega chiller so we might be getting a new toy soon.

Finally an apology. I'm sorry. xxx

Photo!

Sun is shining & I suppose all you folks are out there right now soaking up the sunshine.

The Jazz jam really came together towards the end of the night, the guys blasted out some quality tunes. Just to make some things clear... These Wednesday nights are a jam... if you want to play, or sing let Sam Bailey know the moment you walk through the doors. He is very lovely.

Tonight Luke will be playing. I have asked him how his songs about me are going, once again he evaded the question with the response 'which one?' I have to admit that I have forgotten as I frequently request him to write songs about me going on adventures & Stefan being a superhero & me discovering his secret identity & other stuff.

Tomorrow night we have the K-city talent bowl...see the main website for a longer discription.
We will be showing the England game on Saturday so pop in for either elation & joy or the pain of crippling defeat at the hands of the mighty Portugal again.

Jen has just arrived so we will try to put some pictures up now.

Have only just plucked up the courage to go near a computer again after the pain of losing my last blog.

Suppose I should give you a run down of Jam Funk on Monday night. Boys played an amazing session, Bassist & Guitarist were pretty good, as was the drummer & the djs. They played some quality tunes together. The first gig these guys played for us was at very short notice. They played for us because another band had pulled out, we were all in the throws of panic wandering what we were going to do. Fortunatly the Stacks of Wax collective had been doing their record shop & saved the day by agreeing to play a set. Lots of other musicians happened to be here & stepped in & jammed along, was an amazing night & these guys are getting a pretty big following locally, will let you know when the next gig is coming up.

Happy Birthday Stefan. I miss you very much but am glad that you are back with your Mama, Papa & brother, I know you are being looked after very well at home, so chill out & come back to us refreshed & ready for some more madness.

Tonight we have a Jazz jam session, this is a great opportunity for budding musicans to get up & play, this is where the new talent comes out to shine.

Just lost my Blog I've just written. Took me ages & am too annoyed to write it again. Will fill you in tomorrow.

Saturday, June 24, 2006

Eben played a quality set last night & Lucy played Devils Luck which made me happy. Tonight Postitive Spin will be playing some tunes, funky brakes & all that Jazz. Sounding pretty good at the moment.

I would like to thank Andrew from the bottom of my heart for being such a loyal blogger & leaving me lovely comments on a daily basis. You are lovely. Andrew is officially lovely. The rest of you should feel ashamed. If you don't like my Blog let me know, but remember that this is the best way for you to get information about what is going on at the club, just ask me questions & I'll answer them. If you have any problems that you need to talk about remember that I'm here for you & will do my best to advise you.

Tomorrow... From 1pm Christchurch Jazz Jam & then the England game at 4pm, gonna be interesting to see how the change over from Jazz to football works... I hope to see you in the club because I'll be here working on my day off so come in & give me smiles.
In the evening Afro Latique. African & Latin beats. Great night, good music, buzzing atmosphere but also a good wind down for the week.

Was nice to have Amber Room here last night. Unlucky if you missed it, I think it was their best performance ever. Luke was on top form as usual & dare I say it, he played some blinding classics.

Tonight we have Eben (the band formerly known as Ollie Knight) with the lovely Miss Lucy Kitt. Beautiful line up, this night will be lovely & chilled out, Eben are amazing, so nice to sit back & listen to. Lovely Lucy Kitt really whacks them out, I will be requesting 'Devils Luck' as usual, whether she obliges or not is a different matter.

The lovely artists Guy & Alex have put up their sketches today, they look really great & come with reasonable price tags.

This made me giggle. My big sis has gone to a fancy dress party tonight. The theme is animals, she is dressing up as a vivisection. White coat, a badge with a well known drugs company logo on it & the name Vivian Sectionist, an enormous fake syringe, tortured teddys with eyeballs hanging out covered in blood & a bottle with the label 'horrible chemical' on it. Any one have interesting party stories? (I'm desperate to have some feedback from you people)

Salsa was lush last night. As usual I was knocked about by a couple of dancers but they all seemed to have a good time. Bob once again attempted to show me a few moves, but what can I say, I am always distracted by his snakelike hips & intense stare that I find it hard to concentrate.

Apologies to Tristan & Matt for not acknowledging you on my Sunday blog. You two were amazing & really helped the show come together on Saturday night. We all love you loads, I know everyone says this, but you are two of Canterburys finest.

I was wondering if anybody has any 'meeting the parents' horror stories they'd like to share with the class, would like some reassurance that my experiences aren't that awful, you know what they say, there is always someone out there worse off than you.

What a crazy match last night. It was all going so well until the last few minutes. Beer fobbed again, but the general public were lovely about it as usual. We are doingything we can to get this sorted & it should be fixed soon, please remember that we are in the early stages & constantly fighting to get things right. On a nicer note things are alot cooler in the club, so it's much more pleasant to work & play up here.

I am antisipating the arrival of Salsa Bob & Julia. Salsa is always great fun, people put on the dancing shoes & smiles. There are some pretty talented dancers who come along to this night, Bob always attempts a few basic steps with me but is always disappointed as I am a terible dancer, I've discovered that Salsa isn't something you can blag, no matter how well I wiggle my hips no one is ever convinced. Bob gives me that disappointed smile & I attempt to saunter off but don't notice an expert spining four times on one foot whilst kicking me in the shin with a ridiculously high heel that I could never even imaging walking in let alone dancing in.

Tomorrow I predict Luke Smith & sunshine.

p.s Beat the Odeons excessive prices & get free tea or coffee & a biscuit. On Wednesday mornings at 10:30 they do this thing called Silverscreen. £3.50 to see a film (albeit an Odeon choice) complete with refreshments & no talking as all the pensioners are sleeping.

Haven't managed to make it to a computer in the last couple of days, things have been kinda hectic in this place, is always good when that happens though, we all manage to get a lot of things sorted, so watch our space, things are a changing.

Saturday night was magnificent, Stilton put on an amazing set. I was once again left in awe of James Ross on the Sax, he can play along with anything & is always in time & sounds fantastic. Hollys new mission, get Stilton to number 1, there will soon be MP3s for sale on the website so look out for those. What Canterbury really needs is a number 1 for a local artist or band, it will launch the music scene here which is growing & progressing all the time. A chart hit is necessary for all the fantastic artists that dwell here to be recognized. Let me know what you think of the 'scene', as I'm pretty sure that its about to kick off.

I met a fantastic couple Maggie & Geoffrey on Saturday night who had never ventured into our place before & loved the vibe Maggie assured me she'd be back on Wednesday for the salsa. So hello Maggie & Geoffrey it was really lovely to meet you & hear what you think of the club.

Also hello to Alexander & mama & papa Colley, Stefan should be coming to visit you soon.

Saturday, June 17, 2006

Wow, the sun has come out to play. Have been sleeping in Dane John gardens, its lovely and warm.

Last night was blinding. Amber room played a great set & as I hoped they had a jam with Amanes who were on top form as usual.

Things went a bit crazy behind the bar, the beer exploded & we ran out of glasses, so thank you for bearing with us last night as we struggled through, the heat didn't really help tempers but you were all lovely & that made things a little easier.

If you can bear to leave the sunshine pop in tonight as it's going to be fantastic. Think we are giving away free Stilton.

Some sketches have arrived today, they are by two artists who come into the club & sketch musicians & people, they should be going up on the walls on Tuesday so make sure you come & check them out on Wednesday.

Sweaty hugs & love, hopefully see you tonight.

Friday, June 16, 2006

Happy Friday, was nice to see so many people turn up to watch the England match yesterday afternoon, good result although it was a long time coming.

Luke played a blinding set as usual & Alex Webber was on top form. Especially liked Luke's crazy little piano bit at the end of his set. Was also nice to hear from Victor. Penny loved 'somewhere over the rainbow'.

Really looking forward to tonight, will be most excellent.

Saturday...
Stiltons album launch, what can I say apart from get here early to avoid being turned away. Am sure that this will be amazing as not only will Stilton be gracing the stage but he will have some interesting spanners to throw into the works, two of Canterburys finest scratch djs will be performing live with him & hopefully some soprano sax. This boy is crazy, so who knows what or who he'll have on stage with him.

Big thank you to the lovely photographer who left us a beautiful framed picture that will soon be going up on our wall, I will miss making you & your lovely friend Cappucinos & Hot Chocolates. Hope all goes well in Brighton.

Also big thanks to the mystery man who left me a chicken, mushroom & pepper pie on Saturday night. I have no idea who you are but the pie was very tasty.

Another horrific defeat for Poland, but there's still one match to go so I live in hope. Game went down well in the club despite the result, it was calm & relaxed with rounds of aplause as well as the cheers.

In the club now & it looks like alot of peeps have turned up to watch the match. Penny & Seb are doing an amazing job behind the bar keeping people happy. I think Seb is enjoying the amount of things he has to do as he is normally quite bored when he does the days as they are not often very busy.

Just two messages today. Happy Birthday for yesterday to Mark & Brynn who spent the evening with us, I hope you both enjoyed your cakes from a well known supermarket & had a lovely night.
Thank you also to the Poland fan who will be emailing me some of the pictures he took last night, they will go up as soon as I have them.

Keep in touch people, let me know how you're getting on & what you think of our little corner in Canterbury. If you have any ideas, suggestions or questions let me know & i'll see what I can do, please use this Blog as an opportunity to let others know about your experience with us. (its really easy to leave a comment so please do so)

Big Love

What lovely weather. The rain has cooled everything down nicely, funny though that the day the air con arrives it rains & the temperature in the club drops by many degrees.

I received my certificate for the personal license holder exam passing today, this means that I can fill in the forms, get my CRB check & send off to become a licensee. Am very excited by this.

Coming up at the club...
THURSDAY - England v Trinidad & Tobago @ 4pm & Luke Smith Presents...
Come along in the afternoon to watch what is sure to be an incredible match. For those of you who aren't familiar with the club we have lush leather sofas, really nice fairtrade coffee & a fine selection of alcoholic beverages sold at a reasonable rate.

Luke Smith Presents...
Luke is our only resident at the OSMC & for good reason, not only is he an amazing pianist & a lyrical genius, he also manages to find an incredible guest every week that fills the 'Luke Smith sandwich'.

FRIDAY - Amber Room, Richard Pollott & Amanes
What an amazing line up for Friday night. This is going to be beautiful.

Amber Room make the most incredibly fantastically beautiful sounds I have ever heard, Matt & Sueleen have amazing talent & stage presence, hopefully they will engage in a jam with Amanes as well.

What can I say about Richard Pollott? Amazing songs, multi instrumentalist, songs that Stefan loves to sing along to, especially the one about butterflies. This man has something pretty special about him.

Amanes. If you haven't seen these guys out & about in Canterbury than you really need to come along, I'm not entirely sure of the genre, but I'd say its something along the Greek, Spanish, Latin kinda style. Last time they played for us they had the whole place dancing & that's pretty incredible when you're on the edge of a sprung loaded dance floor. They create the most incredibly electric atmosphere & the place is full of swinging hips.

Will fill you in on how these nights go & will give you some info about Stilton's Album release party on Saturday.

Would really appreciate it if you could let me know what you think, I don't want to sound desperate but I'm making the effort & noone else is, please take a couple of minutes to validate me & leave me a message.

Love and cuddles

Really good turn out last night, Guy was on top form as usual telling his wonderfully entertaining stories. We also saw a debut performance from a band that had just just got together that day, I Used to have a friend called Tim, absolutley amazing. They were pretty special, one guy on guitar & a dutch girl singing along, they did a beautiful performance of somewhere over the rainbow. Unfortunatly they had no CDs (I suppose they had only just got together) but hopefully they'll drop one in for Sam at somepoint & will come & play for us.

Air conditioning is arriving tomorrow so we will all be cooler & in better moods.

World cup tomorrow night should be great, we are also showing the England match on thursday at 4pm, so come along.

Sunday, June 11, 2006

Happy sunday. Bit of a disapointing turn out last night, you people missed out on a really cool band.

Tomorrow we have a mix of comedy and spoken word, i'm looking forward to this, am a bit rinsed, going to sleep now.

Saturday, June 10, 2006

Was really nice to see so many people in the club earlier. Hope you all enjoyed the game. Also hope you like the art, my favourite is the Beckham by the bar. Let me know what you think of it.

Sunshine was lush today, I hope you all chilled out and enjoyed it. If you're stuck for something to do, and are tired of the parks, the Canterbury river tour is well worth the money especially when your guide is the lovely John. Informative and relaxing, it is also great to see the ducklings. Will be putting a link up (now that i've been shown how to do that).

Off to the club now to check out how things are going with Bluse Abuse.

Have a lovely evening and sunday.

p.s Make sure you come along tomorrow to the DJ night. These boys play some great tunes and we're trying to get a relaxing sunday night thing going.

love love

Totally crushed. Horrific defeat for the Poles. The first evening match went well, apart from the result. I had lots of fun working my first night with Penny, she is most lovely and works hard. We were both a bit bored of the football but managed to entertain ourselves.

Today at the OSMC we are showing the England game so come down, if you can drag yourselves in from the lovely sunshine. The world cup art is up and it looks amazing.

Tonight Bluse Abuse will be gracing the stage and entertaing the crowd, they always play a good set so make sure you finish off your evening with us.

big love, enjoy the sun, and if you are make sure you slap on lots of sun cream and enjoy the shade as well.

p.s love to Emily in the states, come back soon we all miss you

Thursday, June 08, 2006

Welcome. I am very excited about this as I have just been shown how to use it & am looking forward to finding out what people think of what we've had going on & letting you know how things are going on the other side of the bar.

I Should probably introduce myself & let you know who I am & what I do with regards to the OSMC. I have been working at OSMC since December & am currently the bar manager. This is my first bar manager job & I am still learning how to get things right, e.g ordering online from suppliers etc. My job involves ordering stock, organising staff rotas & generally making sure that all runs well behind the bar. I also spend Mondays & Wednesday with Adam & Stefan in the club, Stefan is teaching me accounts & Adam gives me things to do. I have just passed my BIIAB exam, this means that I will soon be a personal licence holder.

I will be using this Blog (lots of love & kisses to Jen for setting this up for me) to let people know what has been going on at the club, letting you know about any really good nights we have coming up & hopefully getting some feedback from you about what you really enjoyed, where you think we could improve & hopefully (if I can work out how to do it) putting on links to websites of bands etc that have played that have been most excellent. I would really like it if you would leave me messages & if anyone has any pictures of the club it would be really nice if you could email them to me at hollyorange@btconnect.com & I will try to put them up. I will be updating this everyday so keep checking it out & leaving me messages.

Now all that has been dealt with I feel I should really tell you about last night. Luke played another blinding set & managed to find another Jewel in the form of Rob from the Rob John Gambell Duo I will be putting their my space link up on the blog at some point, hopefully they will play for us soon.

Today at 4pm we are showing the Germany game & at 8am we will be showing the Poland game, so if your stuck for something to do tonight come down and chill out with us.

Other world cup news, We will be showing all the England & Poland games. There is also a fantastic exhibition by Cameron Walker going up tomorrow morning, whose work is being exhibited during the world cup. I will be putting a link to Cameron's website but I would recomend coming along tomorrow during the day to check it out.

Thats all for now, hopefully see you in the club soon.

p.s love to Alexander, Mama & Papa Colley
